| | Monitor no longer detected after Sp1 upgrade I have a nasty problem with my monitor not being detected after the SP1 upgrade. During the upgrade, the New Device Was found dialog came up and started looking for my monitor (Sony GDM-W900). It couldn't find it so I told it "Don't ask me again" Well, everything seemed OK until I tried to assign a profile to the monitor. The monitor was not present in the Color management settings. So, I went to the device manager and in there there was no monitor installed at all. I tried scan for new hardware and the monitor still didn't appear. I turned off the monitor and turned it on and scanned for new devices and still it did not show up. I then plugged in another monitor and it found it and installed it properly. Plugging the original monitor back in, results in No monitor in the device manager. If I select Scan for new hardware but not click it, and then turn off my monitor and then click the button, It detects hardware. If I then turn on my monitor, a monitor is in the Device Manager and it is a Generic Non Plug and Play monitor. This works, but at the next boot up, it goes back to seeing no monitor. Thus, having once told Vista "Don't ask again" it now never recognises that my monitor is plugged in (actually it probably does but does nothing). I know there are drivers available for my monitor. If I enablwe the display of old devices in the device manager I can update my GDM W900 driver from the internet with no problems. How do I get Vista to recognize that my monitor is plugged in now? Ot alternatively, how do I get Vista to ask my again for my monitor????? I, have been with Vista since RC1 days, and this is the first real problem that I cannot get resolved. Using Vista Ultimate X64 edition. Thanks |

| | Re: Monitor no longer detected after Sp1 upgrade Install the driver from Device Manager. It will run you thru the same routine.
