SP1 fails with error 0x8007371B

The system installs all updates and patches fine, but when installing SP1,
which was DL'd from TechNet, I get this error code 0x8007371B and a link that
is http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=101139

When searching I can only find info about XP with this error. Help!!

The same thing happened to me.

I had a fresh install of Vista and no 3rd party drivers
but no matter what I did, the SP failed right at the point where I expected
the first reboot.
The link given for help was of course useless.

I tried every possible thing I could think of and *finally* got SP1 to
install.

I simply ran the installer in the quiet mode and for some odd reason SP1
installed just fine.

To save a lot of command line typing I first renamed the download to SP1.exe

then from the command prompt, to run it in the quiet mode...the command is
sp1.exe /quiet

The service pack installation will run in the background,
so if you give this a try...just sit back and do nothing with your
machine...
as it will eventually reboot without giving a message.

It will take a while for the service pack to install
and may reboot a few times...but eventually it will complete.

In my case, Vista was not running properly prior to the service pack being
installed...
and I had hoped sp1 would fix the problems. Unfortunately SP1, in my case,
did not fix the problems...
so I decided not to deploy Vista at all...But it was a "fun" experiment I
guess
