Vista SP1 Drivers

I read about the issues with the drivers

SigmaTel • For x86-based computers: Sthda.sys - version 5.10.5762.0 or
earlier
• For x64-based computers: Sthda64.sys - version 5.10.5762.0 or earlier

My driver is Sigma Tel Driver 6.10.0.5343 so does this mean that it is not a
problem? I have a Dell XPS 1710 and it will not auto update to SP1 and the
only item I think I could find on the list that would block the update is
this one... any Ideas Thanks Kevin

RE: Vista SP1 Drivers

I also have the same question as Kevin. I have Vista Ultimate, so based on
what Kevin and my situation is, shall we download SP1 from the Microsoft
website, or wait a little while? Thanks.

If you are offered SP1 via WU, install it..

Re: Vista SP1 Drivers

Thanks Mike, but I haven't been offered it through WU yet, as I believe that
the SigmaTel driver may be inhibiting it. Shall I wait a little longer, or
install it manually?

Uninstall the driver, and then reboot directly into BIOS.. Disable the
device in BIOS, save and exit. This will prevent the device being detected
and Vista will not automatically try to re-install the device driver.

Then go to WU and see if SP1 appears.. Or go here for the complete
standalone package.

Install SP1, and when everything is running ok, go back into BIOS and
re-enable the device. At the next boot, Vista should detect it and install
the drivers..

Re: Vista SP1 Drivers

Good news, Mike. I tried a newer SigmaTel driver, rebooted the PC, and WU did
offer my SP1. I downloaded it, and it installed without any problems. Thanks
again for your help!

Re: Vista SP1 Drivers

Go to the SigmaTel site or uninstall like Mike suggested. Also, it takes a
while to be offered the package. It doesn't necessarily show up immediately
after uninstalling the device.
