| | Vista updating problems Ive been trying to update vista to SP1 but for some reason I can not. If I use the windows update tool it wont update anything, it gives me error code 80240016 , 80092004 or 80073712 which doesnt even appear on the microsoft site even though its apparently very common. The only reason I wanted SP1 is because of the problem with virtual address space when playing games. My work machine will never have vista on it. |

| | Re: Vista updating problems sfc /scannow is the built-in system file integrity checker of Windows. It has nothing to do with your hard disk. | | RE: Vista updating problems Cooper, I had a problem getting my computer to install SP1 also. It would go through the complete installation process, then I received the message that the service pack did not install. Spent about 4 hours of wasted time. What worked for me was to download the service pack and save it to the drive it for a later install. After the file downloaded, I disabled my internet connection (to provide protection), and disabled my virus protection and my firewall programs. Then I attempted the service pack install again. It installed without any problem. Just be sure to restart your virus and firewall programs before enabling your internet connection.
