SP1 and VPN: incompatibility with ZoneAlarm

I see from various posts on this forum as well as in the ZoneAlarm forum that
SP1 has modified the interface used by ZoneAlarm (Vista version) to allow VPN
traffic. As a result, VPN connections with the Microsoft client are no
longer possible unless either ZoneAlarm or SP1 is uninstalled.

I have this problem and it is quite annoying since I need ZoneAlarm in the
environment in which I work, and I found a little ridiculous to have to
uninstall SP1 juts because of that.

Apparently, both Microsoft and ZoneLabs are aware of the problem (which
seems also to affect other third party firewalls). Does anyone know when the
problem will be solved (by either Microsoft or ZoneLabs) ?

Ask ZoneAlarm. Why should MS fix it?

RE: SP1 and VPN: incompatibility with ZoneAlarm

Well, everything worked fine until SP1. So, SP1 disrupted something ... As
mentionned i my original post, its not only ZA which is affected but other
firewalls. This is why MS should probably fix it.

RE: SP1 and VPN: incompatibility with ZoneAlarm

I'm not so sure that the onus is on MS. I uninstalled ZA long ago & am
currently using another product (COMODO) that works flawlessly with SP1 &
VPN. I'm hearing fingers being pointed both ways for this ZA issue. Whose at
fault, MS or ZA? If MS, how could they have a targeted problem with one
product, i.e. ZA? ZA swears it's MS's fault, but there are so many other
firewall & antivrus products out there that work fine with SP1. You might be
interested in the link below. I'm currently working with MS TS to hopefully
come to a final answer on the issue. I've requested a refund of ZA. Remember,
they were behind the 8-ball when Vista was first released. They promised
users a 1-year license extension, which I never saw.
