java installation problem

I am trying to install Java but keep getting this message--installation
package can't be opened. Verify the package exists. Contact the application
vendor to verify that there is an installer package-- What do I need to do to
install Java???

Re: java installation problem

Visit: http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp and download
the "offline" version" and install.

What, exactly, did you download? Please provide the download link. It sounds
like you may be trying to install the wrong package.
