No one is making this "too complicated". If the infected machine *only* has
Antivirus 2008/09 then yes, SuperAntispyware or Malwarebytes' Antimalware
(better than SuperAntispyware IMO) will remove the malware.

*However*, in most cases Antivirus 2008/09 is not alone and the machine will
be infected with Vundo and Zlob trojans, all of which are protected by a
rootkit. How do the people (like me) who are giving the "complicated"
advice know this? Because many of us do this for a living and/or are
experts on the specialty forums which provided guided help.

If you were one of the lucky ones whose machine was only infected with the
base malware and SuperAntispyware worked for you, great. I'm happy for you.
But don't make the assumption that your case is typical because it isn't.
