| Guest | x64 ultimate install from x64 home premium cd and ultimate 32 key Here is what I want to do: Install vista ultimate x64 on my computer. Here is what I have: vista ultimate 32 cd and valid key vista business 32 cd and valid key vista home premium x64 and valid key Is this possible: boot from home premium x64 cd and type in my ultimate key to install ultimate?? I have heard that the key is the same for 32 or 64, the real question is does the home premium cd have all the editions on it. |

| Guest | Re: x64 ultimate install from x64 home premium cd and ultimate 32 key The 32 bit Vista installation DVDs will install what ever version of Vista 32 bit you have a key to install on either a 32 bit or 64bit capable system, The Vista 64 bit install DVDs will only install the 64 bit version of Vista on a 64 Bit CPU system. | Guest | Re: x64 ultimate install from x64 home premium cd and ultimate 32 key Yes, if you have an x64 RETAIL dvd you can use it with your Vista Ultimate full edition product key to install Vista. All retail x64 dvds are the same. It is the product key that selects the edition while the x64 dvd automatically installs the 64bit version of whatever edition the product key is for. Is your Vista Ultimate a standard license (aka "full") or upgrade? What does it say on the box? Are your dvds all from retail, boxed copies of Vista? btw, you keep mentioning "cd". I assume that is just an oversight. There are no Vista x64 cds. | Guest | Re: x64 ultimate install from x64 home premium cd and ultimate 32 Thanks for the correction... DVD's !! I got the ultimate from school. The dvd is the may 2007 Systems Student Media. Vista ultimate upgrade. The home premium is an oem copy from newegg and I just noticed it says: "Includes Windows Anytime Upgrade" I am going to give it a try, I will let everyone know how it goes. | Guest | Re: x64 ultimate install from x64 home premium cd and ultimate 32 Not sure why you are so pessimistic Colin. The installer took the key and windows activated with no problems. Thanks for the help I guess... | Guest | Re: x64 ultimate install from x64 home premium cd and ultimate 32 The combination of media and product keys is such that for all I know WGA is going to bite him down the line or he may start getting reactivation messages. My first reaction was that the keys would not mesh. I am surprised that they did. But all may not be well. We'll see.
