Strange things with nVidia RAID support

    Hi there

Last night, I tried to install vista on my Gigabyte nForce 4 (GA-K8NXP-SLI
F6) with 2x 160 Gb DD in SATA. I cannot find a driver for the SIL3114, so I
plug my disk to the nVidia controller (orange plugs). After that, I recreate
    my RAID-0 Stripping disk.

So, when setup prompts me where to install, it sees 1 DD of a total size of
160 Gb. I've tried to install on it, but after first reboot, the disk is "not
system". Giving Vista setup the nVidia drivers give the same result.

Must I first install XP and then Vista? or do I do something wrong?

    Thanks
    Cedric

You have the same board as I have.

I used the WinXP drivers for the SII 3314 (v 1.5.5.0) successfully

A Raid 0 on the nVidia should be about 300GB with your drives. Check that
you have set it up correctly, you need to enter the nVidia raid setup (f10)
    at the appropriate time.

You need to check the BIOS settings for the nVidia - make sure you have
enabled the SATA raid and disabled the PATA raid.

There have been problems for some using nVidia Raids, including myself, you
may have to install XP before installing Vista. Each will need their own
partition. I created 3 partitions: C: as a small primary partition, D: to
install WinXP and E: for Vista.
D: and E: were logical drives in an extended partition.
