I didn't go down with a fight in the losing battle to sucessfully install RC1
in a dual boot environment. After a failed first install, and one
"corrupted" .iso burned DVD later, last night I was able to get RC1 up and
running. With the help of fellow posters, and heeding their advice, you too
can turn that frown into a smiling face. Burn slow, don't install from the
DVD (if you don't want to lose XP), and be patient. Give yourself an hour or
more. Start the install and walk away - get that chore or load of laundry
done. The install does everything for you. After you put in your key,
that's about it. The PC will re-boot several times, and yes - you will see
L-O-N-G delays. But as long as the dots and status bar are moving, you are
okay. There are times you WILL NOT see any hard-drive activity. Don't give
up (unless of course you have a bum DVD like I did). The end result is worth
it! Oh, and by the way - against others who said their "upgrade" over their
existing Beta2 worked - it didn't for me. Just format the extra partition
you intend to put Vista on, and choose "custom install". I counldn't get
Office '07 to work - so gave up, and downloaded/installed Office 2003 trial.
I just need Outlook and Word anyway. Good luck with your install(s).
