Can I re-install Vista on a PC (that has its own product key) using another PC's Vista installation disc?

I have a desktop PC with Vista Home Premium installed together with its own
Vista product key but a misplaced Vista disc.

I also have a laptop with Vista Home Premium installed from an OEM disc.

As I have misplaced the desktops original Vista disc, can I use the laptops
Vista Home Premium OEM disc to freshly install Vista on my desktop but use
the desktops original product key?

Probably not. Most OEM disks are "locked" to a particular brand, and
sometimes a particular model.

Just a "for example" I did reinstall XP off an OEM disk from a friend, it didn't call for the key so there wasn't a problem, I'd just give it a shot if you need the reinstall and have the disks handy anyway.

If the dvd is a Microsoft hologrammed OEM dvd then it will work. You can
use that dvd with the desktop's product key. If the dvd is a branded OEM
dvd then it may not work but give it a try. If it is a recovery dvd it will
not work.
