| | Quicktime - Unable to Unistall to i can install Itunes 7.6 I just received and iPod. But it requires that I run ITunes 7.6 or higher. The problem is when I tried to install the 7.6 or 7.7 for that matter, I get this error that says, “ A newer version of QuickTime is already installed. This installation cannot proceed while the newer version of QuickTime in installed”. So I uninstalled the QuickTime, and still get the error. I also did regedit, and search for all QuickTime references and delete them and when I go to reinstall the ITunes I still get this error. I have been doing this process for the past 4 hours and can get past the error. Any advice? |

| | Re: Quicktime - Unable to Unistall to i can install Itunes 7.6 ITunes and QuickTime use a Windows Installer package. There may be registry settings for Windows Installer that need to be removed. To do this, you could try this. Download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility, found here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301 Run Windows Install Clean Up (a shortcut should be in the Start Menu > All Programs), after it's installed. In the Windows Installer Clean Up window, highlight all references to ITunes and QuickTime (only!), and click on Remove. Don't remove other entries for other programs (like Acrobat Reader, for example), or they will stop working. Close the window. Then try to install those programs again.
