multiboot using grub

has anyone tried this yet?
I installed Vista build 5600 without issues
everything works and I even found the driver for my Silicon Raid
controller so I could try out/install/open all of my stuff sitting on
my other hard disks

but when I reinstall GRUB Vista just won't boot anymore, not normally,
nor in safe mode or any other mode that is available to me
the syste just keeps restarting until I select some other OS
previous build showed a CRCdisk.sys error when booting in verbose mode
haven't yet checked what this version is halting on

bottom line, is anyone else experiencing this issue?

grtz

Re: multiboot using grub

The fact that Vista will not boot when you are using a Linux boot loader is
not a problem to post here. It is a Linux caused condition and you will find
answers on various Linux help forums.

well, yes and no
it is only vista that is not booting anymore
any other windows OS you ever heard of is booting fine using grub
I think this makes it a Vista issue rather than a linux issue
granted that a linux NG will be more cooperative :-?
thnx anyway

Re: multiboot using grub

I have to disagree.

It would be nice if Vista could boot using grub. But, there is no reason why
Vista has to be compatible with Linux operating systems at all. Therefore,
if you want to boot Vista using grub, it is up to the Linux distro to do the
work (instructions, update or work around) - if they want you to be able to
boot as such.
