uninstal and reinstal vista

hey, recently i have had problems with vista. I have tried resoring it back
a few days but the resrtore program does not work. I have tried error
checking both drives but it makes no difference.

I want to try uninstaling and re-instaling vista (vista came on my laptop)

I still have all the disks that came with my laptop and was wondering how to
do this.

Do i just stick in the os dick and follow the instuctions or is there more
to it than that?

many thanks

Go to the manufacturer website support pages to see if the procedure is
documented and, if not, contact them.

RE: uninstal and reinstal vista

You have to go into your BIOS(F2 or DELETE) or Boot Order(F12) right at
Startup/Power on, and set your DVD Drive to be 1st in the boot order.
The F Key numbers, or DEL, should be at the bottom of the screen.

Set it to DVD Drive, insert disk, reboot, load files, delete existing Vista
partition, make a partition, format, and follow instructions to install.
Do you have a second partition(D on your HD, that contains Recovery as well?

You will have to reinstall any programs that you have installed, and SAVE
all your DATA, as everything will be lost.

Re: uninstal and reinstal vista

While that is the basic procedure using an actual Vista installation DVD, it
may not even be remotely close to the procedure that is required by the OEM
provided reinstallation media.

If you have the original Vista DVD which was supplied with your machine, you
either have to go into BIOS and force the machine to boot from the CD/DVD
drive first,

OR

press the relevant F key (notification of this key will be given just after
the machine has been powered up) and select the CD/DVD drive as the boot
device.

Instructions will appear on the screen..

RE: uninstal and reinstal vista

If it is a Vista DVD disk, it has all the info on what to do as you go along
re delete existing Vista, partition , format etc.
But, you have to read on screen info very carefully.

If the disk is from the computer manufacturer, it probaly contains a lot of
their preferred software as well, and is merely a ghost image, which
superimposes over the existion setup, and takes you back to factory, simply
by rebooting from the Disk.

Also, if you have a D: partition, the chances are THAT is a Recovery
Partition to take it back to factory standards.
You would have a Manual on how to do that, or read how to at the
Manufacturer's website.
Why don't you just email/phone the Computer's Manufacturer, and ask them
which is the way they use for their product.
We don't know which company, DEll, HP, and what is on the disks that you have.
