| Ultimate x64 | HD Light Continually Lights Up Yikes ... I need some help. I installed Vista Ultimate x64 a couple of days agon a new computer and ever since then the hard disk light is continually flickering. I've done some searching but haven't come up with any resolution. I've run perfmon and watched the "writes" and here are the files involved: C:\$LogFile (NTFS Volume Log) C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\NTUSER.DAT C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\ntuser.dat.LOG1 C:\$Mft (NTFS Master File Table) C:\Windows\System32\config\SYSTEM.LOG1 as well as a few other ... The HD access is each and every 5 seconds or so. It's been running like this now for about 20 hour straight -- any help or advice is greatly appreciated. thanks. |

| Ultimate x64 | Re: HD Light Continually Lights Up I don't think Indexing is it. It's been going on now for about three days. I go to Indexing and it says Indexing Complete. It's still chugging away -- maybe it has something to do with prefetch? thanks for all and any advice. |

| Vista Ultimate X64 SP1 | Re: HD Light Continually Lights Up I am having the same problem he has ., I have disabled all service indexing and so forth and also used an older drive that was not Sata and still doing the same thing. I have also Burned out 2 HD lights from this already. but I also used a Hard Drive editor and did not find anything to do with this directory C:\$LogFile , C:\$Mft . and the Editor used was Captain Nemo Pro V4.20 at http://www.runtime.org if the 2 Directory did exist they would be on the partition they are not there even with a partition Editor |
