Vista - Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 not working

My Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 is not working on my laptop everytime I click on the link for word or any other program it shows error with short cut, or when it doesnt do that it does nothing. If someone could help me with my problem it would be greatly appericated casue I start college in a couple days and ill really need it then

when i click on the properties to the program it says "Windows explorer has stopped working, checking for solutions" then once that stops the download vista updates screen pops up then i download the update and i got error update doesnt apply or something like that. i dont think its a trial use either, but on the box it does say Service Desk Edition if that helps.

Have you tried to uninstall then reinstall to see if that clears up the problem ?

i tried uninstall and reinstalling and it didnt work. does it help that i have a dell insprion 1721? and the message box that pops up says error with shortcut and it looks like some japense symbols in the box also.

Did you receive a separate Office 2007 installation disk with the system
from DELL? If yes then you should be able to reinsall it.
Does your Invoice for the Dell system show a separate charge for Office
2007?
Most new Vista systems from Dell, HP and other OEM come with a free 30 day
trial copy of Office 2007 and it is possible that this is what you have been
using.

If you have a activation key you should be able to download it and use your key. Correct me if I am wrong younguns. Go to start- all programs- accessories- system tools- system info. It should show what you have installed and the keys.

No it isnt a thiry day trail i didnt get Microsoft Office with my computer i actually got the disk from my gf that only used it once for her laptop, and the box does say you can use it three times. But im still confused cause before i did have microsoft office 2003 and it worked fine, but i decided to upgrade to 2007 and it doesnt work.
