| Vista Home Premium 32 | Vista startup problem Hi there, looking for some advice. My friends laptop with home premium only boots to this screen. status 0xc000000f file:\boot\bcd I know this basically means the file is corrupted/deleted. I have made a recovery disk, the same as in the startup tutorial here. When I boot up from it there is no OS to choose from before proceeding to the startup repair option etc. If I just click next, the repair option doesn`t work and I have tried a couple of console options which didn`t either due to cannot find file etc. The load drivers option.... opened it and can see the files on the laptop but haven`t a clue on how to get the program to recognise that an operating system is installed. Any advice would be gratefully received. Stu |

| Microsoft® Windows Vista™ Ultimate x64 SP2 Windows 7 7127 x64 | Re: Vista startup problem Do you have your Vista installation CD? If you have use it to repair your boot manager by starting up with your cd and following everything through ( you do not have to enter anything - just keep on going to next - do not enter key, say no and carry on to next screen. Then click on repair computer and on the next screen click repair start up. After that you should be able to boot up without any problems. |

| Vista Home Premium 32 | Re: Vista startup problem Thankyou for your response, the laptop came with a recovery partition which won`t access (compaq). The only disk I/we have is the standard recovery iso which I burnt myself. Now that does have a screen that says install but from what I read you can`t install vista from it but would it let you get to what you mention? |

| Vista Home Premium 32 | Re: Vista startup problem I downloaded easy bcd earlier on my machine but you have to be able to boot into vista to use it? Or can you make a bootable disk? |
