I have a really odd issue, if I restart my PC I get past post and when the loading Vista scroll should start I get a black screen, if I restart I get a failure to start and if I choose start normally every thing works fine

I tried a Vista repair to no avail, and its annoying and silly that the only way I can boot is to fail to boot first.

I am running Vista Ultimate x64/8 GB Ram/8800 GTS/500 GB HD, not sure if anyone can point me in the right direction, but thought I would try.

Try System Restore. Choose the last restore point that worked before your problem started. Good Luck.

This is a fresh install, I added memory and a Creative sound card so rebuilt the machine last Friday. To my knowledge it has done this since I rebuilt it. /sigh

And yes I did reformat the hard drive when I did the install so it was a clean install.
