NVidia graphics driver...

Had any luck installing the Beta for RC1?
Here, it freezes the PC during a typical install.
Attempted in Safe Mode, it reports that it has installed, but does not.

Also tested the latest XP driver, using compatibility mode.
NVidia tab shows up in adapter PROPERTIES, but it is "undetermined."

Card is an MSI FX5200.

Re: NVidia graphics driver...

Go online and then check Windows Update. You should see a new Nvidia Driver
ver. 9634. Download it and Windows Update will install it for you.

Did that, checking every option that I could spot, and the only updates
that were offered were MS security updates; nothing from NVidia or any
other 3rd party.

The NVidia site lists the latest driver as 9633.

Further hints?

Re: NVidia graphics driver...

It isn't a security update. It is an optional update. Click on Update
Windows Update and look for the optional updates.

Understood. Unfortunately, when going to this site...
http://beta.update.microsoft.com/win....aspx?ln=en-us

there is no "update Windows update" choice, to snag updates from other
vendors.
Perhaps you have a different URL for MS Update?

I am also unable to access the Windows Catalog, where such vendor
updates have been available for XP. Apparently, it is not compatible
with Vista.

Re: NVidia graphics driver...

Windows Update is on the Start Menu. Click on All Programs. It is half way
down the list.

Re: NVidia graphics driver...

Or just type Windows Update in the Search Box.

Already been there, both via the start menu, and directly via I.E.
Same result; I see no 3rd party vendor update options.

Not that way. (I am not sure why they don't do it , But....)
Go to Device manager.
Click Update driver on the video card (works the same for other
devices)
Search Automatically for updated driver software. (Obviously, you need
to be connected to the Internet <g>)

That has been tried as well: "The best driver for your device is
already installed."
