BSOD in Beta2 to RC1 upgrade

    Hi.

I've tried upgrading Beta 2 to RC1. Everything goes smoothly (although
slowly) until the grey screen which says that Windows is preparing to start
    for the first time.
    A BSOD follows, due to BAD_POOL_CALLER (0x000000C2).

I've tried removing all the ATI software, disabling installation updates,
and (following advice from this group) removing all USB and SATA devices
    during installation. Nothing has worked!

The install is fine prior to this. The ISO was burnt and verified with
Nero, so I don't believe that to be the problem. I've had no major problems
with Beta 2, except that my LCD TV is fussy about input resolutions!

I'm disappointed that the RC should have these problems, especially when the
Beta 2 is OK. Does anybody have any ideas? I don't really want to format
    and do a clean install.

    System:

    Pentium 4 3.0GHz HT
    Gigabyte 865PE Mobo
    ATI 9600XT graphics
    2GB DDR400 RAM
    2 x IBM Deathstar 120GB HDDs
    1 x Seagate 160GB SATA HDD
    1 x DVD-RW, 1 x DVD-ROM
    Santa Cruz soundcard

Nothing cutting-edge, but nothing out of the ordinary either.

    Any help appreciated!

    Thanks,

    James

RE: BSOD in Beta2 to RC1 upgrade

Well, I've installed the same DVD under Virtual PC, and that worked fine. So
    I don't think it's a bad burn.

I've tried the install again without the sound drivers installed - same
    result.

Has anyone else even seen this error when upgrading?

    James
