powercut during installation of SP1

hi folks,
today i wanted to install SP1 on my Medion MD 96420, when during step
1 of 3 a powercut happend.... unfortunatly the baterie wasn´t in,
so the installation was interrupted.

after the power comes back, the notebook don´t power up any more,
neither on batteries, nor on AC...

any idea what has gone wrong, is the notebook now dead?

thanks for help

Re: powercut during installation of SP1

If the laptop will not come on at all, it is probably having a hardware
problem rather than a software problem. A failed SP1 install would result
in a computer that will turn on but Vista won't start, or restarts with an
error message. But the computer would turn on.

Re: powercut during installation of SP1

Hi--

I'm inclined to agree with Mr. Harper that there may be a hdw problem,
particularly in the light of the power cut but nonetheless I suggest you try
a Startup Repair if you have the dvd or do a search in the MSKBs for the
bootrec tool and use their switches from a cmd prompt outside Windows if you
have the Vista DVD.

Good luck and let us know how you make out,

CH
