Serious install issue

During the install of windows vista the cpu was restarted, then it said it
failed so it was undoing changes and said do not restart, the computer was
restarted at this time, the computer has two hard drives and now it will not
boot at all and says dlls are missing for one HD and the other ntdl is
missing and wont boot even from the vista cd, i should be able to do a clean
install from the vista disk but it will not even boot from the disk, now i
need to know what to do neither HD will boot and the disk wont boot any help
would be appreciated

Re: Serious install issue

If you have a Dell or other computer with a hidden recovery partition you
will have to contact the system builder for instructions. Otherwise, if you
have an XP install cd you can do a fixmbr from the Recovery console and see
if it restores your booting ability, but really sounds more like the former.

Re: Serious install issue

Make sure there is no disc in the rom drive.
Start the computer and as it lights up keep hitting the down arrow key on
your keyboard. This should bring you to a screen with a menu option which
says
previous system
roll back
hightlight previous system and hit enter.
If you want to boot from the dvd rom change the boot sequence in your bios
to rom first hard drive second.

RE: Serious install issue

I've had the same problem, I seriously think its a problem with loading a
fresh copy on than actually loading on top of XP. My first setup was loading
on a IDE drive and i had the XP on the SATA. after a restart the error
message came up that could not boot up -disk failure. I then disconnected the
sata and unplugged the ide but with the power left in so it would reset when
i switched it back on. I didn't want to boot up after i connected just the
IDE.
Then I reformatted the sata into 2 partitions using the xp setup and loaded
XP into the 1st and Vista into the second. The XP worked fine, then when i
got Vista working and restarted it gave the same error message.

I wanted to have a dual boot system as i need reliabilty for studies and so
i'm not using Vista now.
Could it be the drivers - there havent been any drivers for nforce4
motherboards released yet and i wondered is the motherboard drivers the cause
for the lock up?

my setup is
AMD 64 3200+
1Gb memmory
400GB SATA
130Gb IDE
MSI K8N Nforce4 sli motherboard

Oh! The little your programme tells me that my computer is already full

true.
