I am trying to install Vista RC1 64-bit edition on a different HD as my WinXP
Home installation. The install seems to go fine until the first reboot, where
the computer just goes to a black screen with no activity. I let it sit for a
few minutes to see if it was going to continue, but nothing happens. I can
reboot back to WinXP, but the OS select screen changes so fast that sometimes
have to reboot several times to change the option from Vista to XP. Any idea
what is going wrong?

I had the same problem installing the 32 bit version. After waiting for about
half an hour, I reset the computer and booted back into the installation
process -- it worked fine -- but annoying -- Vista still does not shutdown
properly. Now you are duel booting. If there is a option to boot to Vista in
the boot manager just select it and see if the installation continues as it
did in my case.
