Re: whats wrong with my Vista DVD ???

Did you burn an image to the DVD or just the file? When you say "open" what
exactly are you doing?

Re: whats wrong with my Vista DVD ???

Hi Clark , thanx for the reply ....i have my HD partitioned , so i want to
install on my D drive , C has Xp ...if i try to boot the cd nothing happens

when i click on the Vista setup which seems okay 2.646 gb , again the only
thing that opens is a Readme txt file , thats says what i mentioned earlier

i burned what -ever was on my desktop man ...
vista_5600.16384.060829-2230_x86fre_client-lr1cfre_en_dvd

do you think the download from the start , never happened properly ???
thats what iam thinking ...because it kept on freezing on me

iam doing a fresh download again now to see what happens , even now iam
frozen again at 2048 mb ...using adsl 1024 , this should not be happening

peace Xibit

Re: whats wrong with my Vista DVD ???

You need to burn the iso to DVD using the 'burn image' function in your
burning program. Just copying the iso file to a DVD will not work.
In Nero, using Nero Burning ROM, close any wizards, select the Recorder tab,
then Burn Image, and point it to the Vista iso. Using Nero StartSmart, you
would need the Copy and Backup tab, then Burn DVD Image.

burncdcc is a free program that will also automatically burn an iso image to
disc.

Remember to use the slowest speed possible for the burn.

Re: whats wrong with my Vista DVD ???

Hi guys ..well i have WinRar also installed , so this is what i mean when i
open the file all i see is a Readme txt

iam using Cyberlink Power To Go & Power To Go Exspess, it is the burning
software that came with my computer & i find it very good

using Nero ... 6 out 10 burns... Nero usuallyb end's up actually burning the
cd's making them useless ..i have burned a zillion cd's with Cyberlink never
a problem

but i did use Power To Go Exspress to burn Vista , so i will try again with
just Power To Go its the actual burn image program , just like in Nero

Re: whats wrong with my Vista DVD ???

The file you downloaded is an image of the DVD you need to burn. You can't
execute it or unpack it. You have to use a DVD burning program to create
the bootable disc you need. If your computer is not equipped with a DVD
burner then you'll have to copy it to another computer. The DVD burning
program will either ask you if you wish to create a disc from the ISO file
or you'll have to tell it to create a DVD from the ISO. You can't just copy
the ISO to a DVD because that doesn't work either.

Re: whats wrong with my Vista DVD ???

Use Nero Express, click on Disc Image or Saved Project, open the ISO
file, check Verify data on disc after burning, and click on Next.
