Vista - vista on slave drive

The MS program states my PC is ok for vista.
I try to load on the c drive (20gb free) but it states "We can not verify
your PC is ok etc" and it will not load vista.
I have a slave drive devided into 5 part each with 50GB but one has some
info on it.
If i make this slave the master will the partisions be seen by vista and
load on the first part or will i end up with a clean HD?
Current OS XP Home with all the updates.

Is your main drive("c") partitioned. A good option would be to partition
that drive into two sections and install Vista on the second partition. I
used Gparted to partition my master drive and installed Vista as a dual-boot.
You don't lose any data with that program.

If you want to install it on one of your slave partitions, just choose which
one you want to use. The install will give you the choice where you want to
install. I would pick a partition that does not have any data on it. Vista
will set itself as the default boot os but you will also get the choice at
boot to choose XP.

Download Vistaboot Pro(free, just google for it) if you want a choice of
which os is the default. Install that program in the Vista os.

Hi
Yes the "C" is part in two but the other part can not be used .It will be
easier to put a new drive in and start from scratch or as i hoped just move
the jumpers to make the slave to master but again i do not wish to loose all
thats on it.
The load program will not get as far as asking me to chose another partition.
It apparently looks at my system and states it can not verify if my system
is suitable but i have already checked with that small MS program that it is.
The test PC is P4 2.4 /2gb main ram/256mb on the graphics card/not much
space on c drive(20gb) but spare 250gb elseware.

How much data are you trying to save? With the software from your hard drive
manufacturer, move the c drive to your 250G drive and make it the new master.
You don't say if that drive has any partitions on it but if not, use GParted
to shrink that partition. You can also use that program to make other
partitions. Just read the help screens to set up your partitions if you
can't figure out how to create the partitions. From there, put your Vista
install dvd in and choose the second partition to install.

Secondly, if you don't care about XP, use the Vista dvd's Windows Easy
Transfer to transfer all your files and settings that you want to keep to a
cd. After that, you need to delete all partitions and use the Vista dvd to
create a new partition to install the os to. If you can use Vista to delete
the partition(s), use a floppy or GParted. It's here:
http://gparted.sourceforge.net/livecd.php.

After you get Vista running, you can load all your files and settings from
the transfer cd.

I put vista on my master drive, bought new hard drive, and now want to use
the bigger hard drive, it is currently the slave drive, how do I transfer all
data to the new drive, the manufactuor wizard does not support Vista.
