Thanks -- I should have clarified. Here's an example of the discrepancy I'm
seeing -- It's a typical Windows Problem Reports and Solutions log. It gives
two different OS version numbers. (See top, and bottom, of event report.)
If the bottom build number is for the component, and corresponds to an
earlier build, does that raise the possibility that there was a bug in that
component that wasn't discovered prior to SP1's RTM? Not laying blame just
yet, but I've tried absolutely everything in the book to set this
installation back on track, and all of the malware scans have turned up
negative too.
