| Guest | Installation/Upgrade Hangs Not sure whether this is a general problem that others have experienced. After downloading Vista (both 5600 as well as 5728) and burning the iso image, I tried to upgrade my existing version of Vista. I have a dual boot system with XP SP2 on drive c and vista on d. My primary dvd drive is a DVD ROM, whereas my secondary is a DVD Rewritable drive. The installation was started from my secondary DVD drive. After the installation reboots (believe this happens during the "expanding files" stage), the installation hangs. The only option I have at that point is to power off the system... Vista then tries to roll back the installation. This fails and continually reboots and tries to roll back...the existing Vista no longer boots either. The same happens with a clean install. After multiple attempts, I found a way around this: As the installation reboots, remove the DVD from the drive and the installation completes successfully. I think there is a problem when installing/upgrading Vista from a secondary DVD drive. Note that I did not face this issue with the initial beta 2 release. |

| Guest | RE: Installation/Upgrade Hangs I was having the same problem with only one DVD drive. I tried the same thing and also was able to get past the first boot by taking the DVD/CD out of the drive before the system when through with the boot process. I can't believe the solution was so simple! I'm glad I found this solution. It is installing normally now.
