The Product Key(s) you received as a member of the CPP will only activate
Vista Ultimate. So, you must install Vista Ultimate.

Well, that's a good question. I don't remember when or where I first became
aware of this fact, but it must have been in late May or early June. If you
search through the newsgroup for all 142 threads on this exact same theme
you will find that there are others who share this knowledge.

Re: Serial don't work...

LOL, I didn't mean that to sound like Mark has ever steered anyone wrong.
Sorry Mark.

Re: Serial don't work...

Mark I did not mean that.
What I meant was how do you know that:
1.
OP is a member of CPP (Canada Pension Plan :-) ???
2.
OP did not download Vista Ultimate?
3.
What is Vista Ultimate anyway?

I made an educated guess that the OP was either a member of the CPP
(Customer Preview Program) or else downloaded the file from a, ah,
different source. I based my assumption on the fact that if the OP were a
member of either MSDN or Tech Beta, the other two sources of obtaining Vista
Betas, the OP would have also received very explicit instructions, most
likely would be a "Sysadmin" or something similar, and would have other
avenues of accessing tech help than a public user group, such as private
news groups for these programs, plus one-on-one phone support.

Vista Ultimate is one of the editions of Vista that will be sold. The
entire range is Vista Starter (for "emerging markets"), Vista Home Basic,
Vista Home Premium, Vista Business, Vista Enterprise and Vista Ultimate.
Ultimate, true to its moniker, contains all of the features found in the
other editions.
