Problem with "Dell Storage Manager Driver" during installation

Dell Precision PWS670 workstation, dual Xeon processors 3gHz, 3 GB RAM.
Running WinXP Pro with SP3.
Trying to upgrade to Vista Business.

Right from the start I'm given a message that the Dell Storage Manager
Driver must be uninstalled before it can proceed. It refers me to MS KB
941024. That article is about problems with Windows Server 2008 upgrades,
so ..... I want to be cautious in how I proceed. Tried googling for the
answer, but not really any help. Anyone run into this before, and solved
it?

RE: Problem with "Dell Storage Manager Driver" during installation

Hi Mike,

As the construction of Windows Vista is similar with that of Windows Server
2008, this article also applies for Windows Vista.

Please feel free to try the following steps to troubleshoot this issue:

1. Copy the Addfilter.exe file to a folder on the computer.
2. Click Start, click Run, type CMD, and then click OK.
3. Type the following command, and then press ENTER, where Path is the path
of the Addfilter.exe file:

Path\addfilter u afamgt

This will remove the filter driver from the registry.

4. Manually delete the Afamgt.sys file from the following folder:

C:windows/System32/drivers

You may contact Dell to obtain the Addfilter.exe file.

If anything is unclear, please let me know.
