Vista Installation - Boot from DVD

I've been trying to install Vista on system currently running on XP.
Apparently, the Hard Drive is bolixed up as the option to upgrade is disabled
and the full installation flakes out after 27% of "expand files" with a
message that system is unable to configure boot sector. I have emptied
program data directory but cannot get rid of it altogether. -- Therefore, I
am considering installing a replacement hard drive.

Will I be able to boot from the Windows Vista Home Premium DVD I purchased?
If not, how do I install to a virgin Hard Drive?

Re: Vista Installation - Boot from DVD

Open your DVD drive and install the Vista disk,
Then Reboot.
All the tools are there to install Vista.

Re: Vista Installation - Boot from DVD

Are you installing from within XP or from the DVD. Do you have an upgrade
version of Vista or full version. If you have the full version, install
from the DVD and delete the partition, recreate and reformat it.
