| | Failed to install Vista 64bit SP2, gives me Error code 800B0100 Ok, every time I try to install Service Pack 2 for Vista 64Bit Business edition I keep getting the "Code 800B0100 error". Now I have looked on the other threads that pop up but it's either for Beta edition of SP2 or SP1. It's also for Windows XP or either 32 Bit. Not to mention they are quite old most of them. So my PC is an P5Q Pro, Quad Core 2.8GHz, ATI Radeon 4850 512 MB RAM, 3 GB RAM(I had 4 GB in 4x format but that crashed my PC due to Asus didn't test it properly.) http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/116556/DxDiag.txt That's my DXDiag. This error began some few months ago when I was going to try out the Windows 7 Beta but kept getting this error message. By then I thought I could just format and get rid of it. Obviously not. It was still there and made it anoying to try to update. For some unknown reason I was able to get in the updates up to SP1 after much hassle. It just started to work by then. I don't think I bothered with SP2 as it didn't show up. Some programs that I have running. Avast Anti Virus, Home edition Daemon Tools PC Tools: Registry Mechanic Those are the things that might make a difference. My Bios are up to date. I have tried to download the update and install it that way. In Windows update it only goes to a few % before it complains about the error. I have installed files and such that people have suggested too. So far, no good. I really hope you support fellas can fix this. Because first time I started up this PC and such I could easily install all the updates without a single hassle. -- Zefar ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Zefar's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/members/103570.htm View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/vista-set...ll/1192651.htm http://forums.techarena.in |

| | Re: Failed to install Vista 64bit SP2, gives me Error code 800B0100 First of all if you are running three sticks of ram instead of two in their matched slots you are probably getting worse performance than you would from 2gbs of ram running in proper DDR mode (there have been several published objective tests demonstrating this over the years). Try running just two ram sticks and also put them through a software test like the Microsoft tester. |

For starters. Also, you may have a bad memory card......so start out with just 1 memory card and see how it goes, if success, then try each memory card alone. if all work, then try adding another, and so on. If this fails, try disabling and removing everything from the board except the bare essentials, and retry install, if you get a startup, slowly add the other devices till you eventually have them all installed and working. This is a long process, it takes time and patience, with multiple shut downs and restarts, but it works if a device or driver is interfering with install. Which used to be a lot more common than today. I used to think, one day I might make it to rocket scientist. Then I became a truck driver ![]() |

| | Re: Failed to install Vista 64bit SP2, gives me Error code 800B0100 Already done all of that. Took like 3 hours. My PC can't handle 4 at time. I used a memmory test program that most people loved. Every time I put 4 in, it crashed on the third test. There is nothing wrong with the memmory or the slots. Asus just didn't test people using Quad 4x 1 GB RAM. Even the support told me that. I even tried to increase the power useage for them but it wasn't enough. Now I'm fine with how my RAM is. That's not the main problem for me as I stopped crashed and that's what matter for me. I'm also thinking of buying 2x 2GB RAM sticks instead but have no idea what to do with the others then. But that's not why I really posted. I wanna get the Windows update problem fixed. I'd love to have some help with that. ![]() -- Zefar ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Zefar's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/members/103570.htm View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/vista-set...ll/1192651.htm http://forums.techarena.in |

Unless you've gone through the trouble of reviewing these entries and set them to ignore, the registry is likely to do more damage then good. Go to Windows website and download SP2, it's about the same size as the Windows Update version and install from your drive. |

| | Re: Failed to install Vista 64bit SP2, gives me Error code 800B0100 Already tried to download the SP2 pack alone and then install it that way. Stopped even quicker for some reason without giving me an error code of any kind. As for Registry cleaners, hmm maybe you are right.
