Very long time before an interface is provided

My screen stays dark after boot. The HD is apparently working so I let it go
on. After hours, I find the PC in "sleep", I turn it on and it works. How can
I avoid that incredibly long wait before I get a screen? This happens every
time I boot in RC1. I have a dual boot with XP as the default.

RE: Very long time before an interface is provided

I have set up RC1 since a couple of days now and I have the same problem. I
didn't install any thing new - i think.
This is a seriously unacceptable bug, crash, incompatibility.
I rebooted, did a F8 and started up again in safe mode. That went fine. So I
think it's got something to do with the new driver update install for the
SATA RAID I got via the Windows Update Mgr. So I'm gonna try and uninstall
that update tonight and let you know.

RE: Very long time before an interface is provided

It might be because you have a usb memory stick in the compu when you start
up. I had that problem with XP that it took a long time to load windows.
I even restored the system to two days ago, and also removed the SATA RAID
driver, but neither helped. Will report if removing usb stick helps.
