| | Uninstalling Vista Hi, I tried to uninstall Vista but got into terrible problems when I reinstalled XP. Seems that Vista overwrites the MBR (master boot record) which means that there is no way for the the MBR to say where the new XP installation is. Can someone please help. How do I go back to a clean install of XP? I really don’t want to use Vista any longer. I just don’t like it that much. |

| | Re: Uninstalling Vista From within XP format the Vista partition...this removes Vista then insert your XP install CD and boot from it. once booted and you are at the install screen, choose "R" for repair. this will put you into C: prompt then type "fixboot" then type "exit" and the system will reboot. thats it you are done. peter "Alan" <none@000.com> wrote in message news:30686_ec5329d4f5a98e266d8f1b0e24354c12@0000.com... > Hi, > I tried to uninstall Vista but got into terrible problems when I > reinstalled XP. > Seems that Vista overwrites the MBR (master boot record) which means > that there is no way for the the MBR to say where the new XP > installation is. > Can someone please help.
