RC1 64bit on Sony VAIO Notebook VGN-FS3153

I ran the Windows Upgrade Advisor, it has no issues with my system and
displays "your computer can run vista" - cut the iso file I downloaded onto a
disk - no problem, once I insert the disk it reads then displays your system
cannot run this operating system ??

I am running windows XP, has it got anything to do with 32 and 64 Bit - I
downloaded the 64 bit.

You cannot upgrade a 32 bit operating system to a 64 bit one, or start the
install from within XP. You would have to boot with the DVD to install RC1
x64.
And of course, your cpu must be 64 bit capable.

Thank you Jane, a couple of questions on the points you raised if you dont
mind, I have just checked my system properties and this is what is displayed:

Microsoft XP Home edition, Intel Celeron M 1.60GHz - how do i check to see
my processor capabilities, I am going to google it to start with?

The Celeron M series are not 64 bit capable. (No EM64T designation)

I'd maybe go to Intel (www.intel.com) and look at their specification sheets
for processors if I were you, though I'm actually pretty sure that all the
Celeron M series DO NOT support 64 bit at the moment, so you might well want
to try the 32bit version of Vista instead.

Intel apparently call their 64 bit support "EM64T" these days when you're
looking at their website, though most other people on the planet call it
"EMT64", so you'll wanna be aware of both those terms if you do decide to
Google it.
