Re: Hands up all those who installed Vista from a CD..........

I don't see how that was possible being that the download was 2.39gb.

Who cares? Little, minor technical information. You can always download if
you have the mean, like 1.5M or more downstream, T3, SOHO, etc. Do you have
money?

Re: Hands up all those who installed Vista from a CD..........

Nero,

People are simply breaking the ISO up into smaller pieces to fit onto CD's.
I have no clue why, as that is a heck of a lot of CD's! DVD drives are DIRT
cheap, I just picked up a DVD burner with Lightscribe for 32 USD from NewEgg
with free shipping...

You can also download Vista from Connect in CD format ( 5 or 6 cd's from
memory)

You don't even need one, although that would certainly be ideal.

I used Daemon Tools to install Vista from an XP box and performed a clean
install.

Re: Hands up all those who installed Vista from a CD..........

Pretty much the same here.. I extracted the ISO to a directory on my system
called <CABS> pretty much the way i have installed every windows OS since wfw
3.11 way back when.. saved the cd shuffle hassle from previous years, tho
starting with windows xp not very required. Does provide easy access to a non
corrupted ntldr and etc. in case of system failure.

Re: Hands up all those who installed Vista from a CD..........

How the hell can you do a clean install if the only way is to boot from a
dvd?
You cannot boot into windows and do a clean install.

Re: Hands up all those who installed Vista from a CD..........

Actually, you can boot into Windows, run the Vista install DVD from your
existing desktop and do a clean install by choosing the custom install
option and installing to a different partition ;-) Same applies for
mounting the image with Daemon Tools. I've done it both ways :-)
