It doesn't come with a serial number. It does come with a Product Key,
which was available at the time you downloaded Vista from the Microsoft or
MSDN web sites.

You can register at:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvist.../register.mspx
to get a key.

Microsoft says "You must register by November 30 to receive
a Product Key."
