Installing Vista from OEM XP Pro

As with previous versions of windows will it be posible to a clean install
from a Vista upgrade disk, assuming it will ask to check the CD and key?

Or would this approach require a full install disk?

many thanks

Re: Installing Vista from OEM XP Pro

The response from MSFT reps seem to indicate 'No' to your
1st question, but you'll probably have to wait until you get
your hands on a RTM DVD to find out for sure. You may have
to wait for the answer to your 2nd question, too.

Re: Installing Vista from OEM XP Pro

Response seems to be that a clean install is possible from within your XP to
a different volume using upgrade sku.
There should be no problem installing a clean install using the full
product.

Re: Installing Vista from OEM XP Pro

The RTM DVD do not upgrade. All it do is to move all old files (c:\documents
and settings, C:\Windows, C:\program files) into a c:\windows.old dir.

(given that your old install was on C:\windows)

Re: Installing Vista from OEM XP Pro

Not correct. It does an upgrade from XP or previous Vista versions.

Re: Installing Vista from OEM XP Pro

When I upgraded Vista RC1 to RC2 I did make that temporary, which I could
easily remove. Since I am not a MSDN subscriber I'll wait to see how the
upgrade from RC2 to RTM goes.
