| | Completing Upgrade (64%)... I am trying to upgrade my XP Pro SP2 system to Windows Vista RTM and got stuck on 'Completing Upgrade (64%)...'? I've removed all AV & burning related software & it has been stuck at this position for over 12 hours now. I'm upgrading on a Dell Optiplex GX620. When I force reboot, it rolls back to Windows XP. Any Ideas? |

| | Re: Completing Upgrade (64%)... I know it will sounds silly but mybest advise to you is to back up your data write down the apps you need and do a clean install then reload your apps. It will save you time in the long run. My upgrade, which i only did as a test took over 4.5 hours A clean install is about 30-40 on my machine. I could have rebuild in less time than the upgrade. -- Josh http://windowsconnected.com "Devon Harding" <Devon Harding@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:CFECC5F6-43B3-4F8C-A770-6016020E003C@microsoft.com... >I am trying to upgrade my XP Pro SP2 system to Windows Vista RTM and got > stuck on 'Completing Upgrade (64%)...'? > > I've removed all AV & burning related software & it has been stuck at this > position for over 12 hours now. | | Re: Completing Upgrade (64%)... Hi, Use a third party tool to carve out a separate partition, then install Vista cleanly to it. If it is successful, then the hitch is something in the XP installation that is interfering. If it is not, then you have a hardware issue and, as mentioned, it could be BIOS, video, or any other part of the system. The solution there is to start trimming until you isolate it. -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Windows help - www.rickrogers.org "Devon Harding" <DevonHarding@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:8F0FF316-A33B-4F5E-9DAF-4F2663D89473@microsoft.com... > I'm not using a unattend file.
