Windows could not update the computer's boot configuration.

Hi,

I'm trying to uprade from Windows XP Professional SP2 to Windows Vista
Business on a Toshiba laptop. I get the following error:

###
Windows could not update the computer's boot configuration. Installation
cannot proceed.
###

I do not want to do a clean install.

Can anyone help?

Thanks,

Tom

Re: Windows could not update the computer's boot configuration.

Hi Tom,

Have you checked the system BIOS to see if there is an antivirus detection
scheme enabled? If it is, Vista setup will not be able to write to the boot
sector and alter the mbr code.

Re: Windows could not update the computer's boot configuration.

Are you using either the Tecra S3 or Portege M400.

I suspect you are as I receive this error if I do not load the raid driver.
Basically the HDD cannot be seen without this driver.

Check the following for latest Toshiba Vista drivers
