Strange boot installation DVD issue

Hi everyone,

i've burned the .iso file in the correct way, but still can't boot from that
DVD on my IBM Thinkpad R40. I know i burned it right because i can correctly
boot with the same Vista Beta 2 DVD on other machine and from Virtual
Machines.

The thing is that i can correctly boot my PC from any other bootable CD/DVD
but not from Vista Beta 2. The boot sequence is correct (otherwise i wouldn't
boot from Windows XP CDROM), i also checked if i have latest BIOS and DVD
drive firmware and they are already up to date.

Waird, considering i could boot with previous Vista DVD with no preblems.

Anyone has an idea what to do next?

Re: Strange boot installation DVD issue

Have you tried mounting the ISO using Virtual Drive tools such as Daemon
Tools or NERO Image Drive and install that way? Also, you could try
extracting the contents of the ISO to a folder in XP and launch setup from
there and see if it works. Did you burn the ISO at a low speed, 2x
recommended?

Re: Strange boot installation DVD issue

No, i didn't burn it at 2x speed 'cause i didn't know it was raccomanded.
Thing is that when i saw the DVD was working i erased the iso file. Do you
think i can make and iso from the DVD i have and burn it again at 2x speed or
should i download Vista again?

Re: Strange boot installation DVD issue

I think so, I never tried, I know that NERO has a built feature for creating
ISOs from DVDs. Worth a try if you have that installed.
