| | Windows PowerShell I ran the Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor in anticipation of upgrading the Windows Vista. The report told me to remove Windows PowerShell and MS FrontPage extensions 2002; which I did. (I got a warning that certain programs might not work properly if I uninstalled PowerShell, but went ahead and uninstalled anyway.) Now, when I try to open Outlook 2003, I get this error: Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook. MAPI32.DLL is corrupt or the wrong version. This could have been caused by installing other messaging software. Please reinstall Outlook. And when I try to run any Office Application I get this error: The installation source for this product is not abailable. Verify that the source exists and that you can access it. Which is the same error I receive when I try to reinstall Office 2003 from the original disk. I then reinstalled PowerShell, thinking/hoping it would fix the problem, to no availe. I thought it might be a good idea for Office to be working properly before the upgrade to Vista, but I need your advise on this. What should I do at this point? Uninstall PowerShell again and go ahead with the upgrade to Vista? I am planning on upgrading to Office 2007 too. Your speady reply is most appreciated. Thanks, John Kisha |

There is a MSI cleanup tool available to help with this type of situation, but I would prefer to avoid it in the first place. | | Re: Windows PowerShell Well, I upgraded to VISTA and to Office 2007. Thought Office 2003 would have been upgraded, but all the 2003 versions of Office still remain. So, I went to uninstall--both from the CD and from Add Remove Programs and am not getting this error: "The installation source for this product is not available. Verify that the source exists and that you can access it." Anybody got a clue as to how I can remove Office 2003?? Thanks, John Kisha PS The removal of PowerShell wasn't what created my initial problem, it was removing Expressions Web Designer Beta. When I installed the release version, the original problem with Outlook cleared up. Though now I can't connect to exchange server with Outlook 2007, but that's an issue for another forum.
