| | Basic upgrade question I have a Dell PC running XP Home SP2. Dell has their own Vista Upgrade Advisor, and after running it, the program stated that my sound, display, modem, and two ATA Storage Controllers would need updated drivers. Wouldn't Vista automatically install them during the upgrade? |

| | Re: Basic upgrade question Drivers are provided by the hardware mfg, not Microsoft. If the mfg's haven't provided Microsoft the drivers, they are not included, and you will need to download and install them. -- ___________________________ http://www.db-pc.com "History Fan" <UnknownplacesonEarth@unknown11.com> wrote in message news:ur91Fc%23QHHA.2252@TK2MSFTNGP02.phx.gbl... > I have a Dell PC running XP Home SP2. | | Re: Basic upgrade question Sometimes, yes. Basically, it was saying that the WinXP drivers were not compatible with Vista. My motherboard only needed the onboard sound drivers, everything else was done by Vista (and it gave me similar messages as yours when the Upgrade Advisor was ran).
