| | Black Screen? One day while using my Vista Ultimate os, a BSOD popped up, and after it dumped my memory and restarted, I found the OS would not boot, I continually got the error "No Operating System Found", so I inserted the Vista Dvd, and used the repair function, which made that error message go away, and Vista booted and got past the Vista logo screen, but after that, the screen goes black except for the mouse pointer, and the usual information about the version of windows i am using down in the bottom right... and it sits there with nothing happening. Are there any fixes out there for this bug? |

| | Re: Black Screen? That happened to me yesterday and I found that it had changed my boot drive setup in my bios. When I reset it to the proper boot drive, it hasn't happen again and I haven't had anymore problems. Blue Angel!! | | Re: Black Screen? This wouldn't work for me, as I have two HDDs in my computer... one running Vista, and one running XP. I have switched from Vista to XP multiple times since this problem, so i'm guessing it's not that.... |

| | RE: Black Screen? Hi. I noticed a similar black startup screen with only mouse pointer and version number, and it turned out that I had left a USB mass storage device connected at shutdown. When I unplugged it, the Windows startup continued normally. Sometimes this would happen with an external HDD in a USB box, sometimes it would happen with an MP3 player connected to USB. I'm currently on Beta2/Build 5384, waiting for my Retail copy to arrive in the mail. Good Luck.
