My installation woes

I can install fine, I have done so perfectly three times. That is the problem
though. I type in my wanted username and password and select a PC Name then
the performance test starts and ironically stops when it reaches something
saying how reliable vista now is. This is very frustrating I have tried all
morning to sort it with little success it just keeps freezing halfway through
the performance test. I even left it for an hour and came back to find it in
the same place.
I am desperate for help so please give me a decent solution.

Now, it did not take an hour for my "performance test" to complete, but
it took SO long that I became convinced that the process was frozen. I
was reaching for the Reset button when it finally completed. I have a
pretty-up-to-date video card, a Radeon 1950 Pro, and Vista does not have
a built-in driver that recognizes it. My "Windows Experience Index"
rating for this card was 5.9, the highest possible video score, AFTER
setup and AFTER installing ATI's WHQL-certified Vista driver.
Initially, though, the rating was 1, the lowest possible score. IF you
have a device that's not automatically recognized by setup, it may be
using a driver that's woefully inadequate, and the "performance test"
may appear to be hung up when it's not. For example, it doesn't show up
in the final result, but Vista includes an encoding test (there's an
internally generated VideoEncodeScore) that doesn't affect that final
WEI result, but could take a LONG time to complete without proper drivers.

My recommendation before giving up would be to do the install once more
at bedtime and let this part of Setup run overnight just to be certain
that it's really frozen in mid-task. There's a possibility that it
might complete. If so, it should be obvious which device was making
that test proceed so slowly/
