| | Install BSOD Okay, it takes about 3 DAYS for the Windows Upgrade to do (I'm going from WinXP Home -> WinVista Ultimate Upgrade), and then once it goes through all the steps and actually attempts to boot into Vista for the first time (not all the boots through the install, when it actually finishes the upgrade) it gives me a BSOD. The BSOD:: IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL STOP : 0x0000000A ( 0x00000000, 0x0000001B, 0x00000001, 0x81829194 ) This usually means important drivers are corrupt, correct? Now, in this case, I'm *assuming* that it means the drivers that Vista installed for itself are corrupt? Would this mean the issue was with the disk or something? Any help? |

| | RE: Install BSOD Sevac, It is Vista the one creating this issues, check mine out ; BSOD Windows failed to start...blah blah. File:\Windows\system32\drivers\Ntfs.sys Status: 0x0000221 Info: Windows failed to load because of a critical system driver is missing or corrupt. I haven't any reply from this newsgroup/ nor my MoBo maker, so don't know what direction to go next. | | I am having the exact same problem I get the exact same BSOD. However, I was able to load vista (home premium) after several tries. I didn't realize until halfway thru the installation that it was the 32 bit dvd (stupid me didnt see it right on the disc) and I am running a 64 bit processor. I get this error screen at random times all of the time, and usually every time I start up my computer. I have a 64 bit dvd on the way and I am hoping that it will fix my problems. However, for me I think that the problem is my video card driver. I have a 7900 GeForce 256. Many times my monitor will start going crazy and get all fuzzy almost like a tv when it doesnt have a signal. This is strange to me because I have the newest 32 bit vista driver although it was released 3-18-07, so it might not have all the bugs worked out yet. I contacted microsoft support and they sent me the only 2 arcticles that they have on the subject in vista (I think someone in an earlier post had a link to them,) however they both say that they are problems with setups that have 3 or 4 gb ram, and i only have 2. Does I would appreciate any further information on that would help me out, and I will let u know in the 64 bit installation helps. | | Re: I am having the exact same problem This is not a chat group....the same BSOD as what/who??? Running a 32bit OS with a 64bit processor should not normally give you a BSOD...if it did there be a hell of a lot of folks up the creek without a paddle.....I am sure a lot are running 32bit XP on any number of 64 bit capable processors. here is the latest Vista driver for your vid card http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x86_100.65.html peter "Mitch" wrote in message news:2007320112042mrice895@aol.com... >I get the exact same BSOD. | | Solution Same problem here. I analysed the crash dump with ERD Commander. The problem is with c:\windows\system32\drivers\alcxwdm.sys (if i remember right). Surely you have a Realtec Audio Codec. Just rename the file to avoid loading. It worked for me. Good Luck EggHeadCafe.com - .NET Developer Portal of Choice http://www.eggheadcafe.com |
