| | Re: Installation of Vista HomePremium As you found out, you cannot upgrade XP Pro to any Vista Home versions. You can copy your files over obviously, but you will have to reinstall all applications. -- ---- Crosspost, do not multipost http://www.blakjak.demon.co.uk/mul_crss.htm How to ask a question http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555375 How to Post http://www.dts-l.org/goodpost.htm http://www.db-pc.com _________________________________________________________________________________ "robj" <robj@bunsmith.com.au> wrote in message news:4D2B137C-02D5-4D31-A878-EF58AD873669@microsoft.com... > > --I tried to install vista HP upgrade over xp pro sp2 but it tells me I > cant > upgrade (greyed out) and would have to clean install which would be a > re-format but if I back my xp c drive can I re-install all my files over > to > vista after installation > twojakes |

| | Re: Installation of Vista HomePremium -- thank you for your reply David. I just wonder why Microsiot puts out upgrades if they don't work. Even the upgrade adviser saidit was ok to upgrade. twojakes "David B." wrote: > As you found out, you cannot upgrade XP Pro to any Vista Home versions. | | Re: Installation of Vista HomePremium The upgrade advisor is generic, it will let you know what apps/drivers/hardware aren't compatible with Vista, it's up to you to determine which versions of vista you can upgrade your specific XP version to. XP is similar, I believe you can't upgrade a Windows 2000 install to XP Home, only Pro. -- ---- Crosspost, do not multipost http://www.blakjak.demon.co.uk/mul_crss.htm How to ask a question http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555375 How to Post http://www.dts-l.org/goodpost.htm http://www.db-pc.com _________________________________________________________________________________ "robj" <robj@bunsmith.com.au> wrote in message news:3C51032E-108E-4DBA-94E5-BCC31076D027@microsoft.com... > > -- thank you for your reply David.
