Blue Screen on my first day :(

New computer (A real Gaming Beast). I installed windows vista 32-bit today.
Had a problem with the second partition & 1 of the guys here solved it for
me... was very nice to see there's suppoert
But now (non-related) I got a blue screen a few times. These are the things
I thought to be mainly important:
"mv_mini.sys [might have been nv_mini.sys]

PAGE_FAUL_IN_NONPAGE_AREA

mv_mini.sys address8AC56618 base at 8AC39000, DateStamp 44dd49d8"

It gets frustating when I just don't know what to do about a scary BLUE
Screen...
can anyone please help me?

Thank you for even caring & reading this...

Re: Blue Screen on my first day :(

It's NV_MINI.SYS and it's being caused by the drivers for your nVidia
graphic card. You can get updated drivers at http://www.nvidia.com/ but at
the moment they are ... well, how to put this delicately ... "not entirely
stable". Not all features are present yet and some of the ones that are
have a few bugs. Lots of us who own nVidia based cards are suffering with
you, if it's any consolation whatsoever.

A PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGE_AREA (fixed your typo) is probably some driver
issue. If you use the phrase in Goggle you'll find many hits that
gives more details. If you get a blue screen during install or while
booting that ususally points to some necessary drivers Windows needs
to start up, like a video driver or a driver for your hard drive. If a
blue screen happens randomly AFTER Windows has booted and you're in
the process of doing something you need to do a little trial and error
work to try to narrow it down.

Since you say you're a real gamer, is your system overheating?

Re: Blue Screen on my first day :(

I'm a gamer, but I haven't even installed 1 game yet.. so no... there's no
overhead. It happened a few times, during installations...
I think Richard gave the exact answer above. Thank you both very much. This
kind of detailed information is what makes these forums worth while

I guess I'll update the NVIDIA drivers in a few months... hoping they'll be
better by then.
