MIDI synthesizer choice?

In XP one could choose the desired MIDI synthesizer to use...

Here, those choices included the QT and MS synths, as I recall, plus
several from Creative.

Where can this choice be made in Vista?

RE: MIDI synthesizer choice?

I'd like to know, too. Midi's i've played with Vista are sounding horrible.

Authoritative word received since my initial posting...

I personally installed Creative's Soundfont Mgr. in Vista. The desired
font loaded. Creative's Audio Console reports that the MIDI device uses
the Audigy 4 synth, yet the sound quality seemed that of the MS synth.

So it's a waiting game perhaps...for Creative to come up with a solution
to make their software apps function in Vista.

A query is in to them, but I don't expect much more than the standard
referral to the FAQ.
