Intel Raid 1, Vista won't reinstall

I have a computer with the ASUS P5B-E motherboard, this board supports Raid
via the Intel chip.

When I first put the computer together I had Vista Ultimate RC1 installed,
it worked fine. It had a Raid 1 configuration w/ two Seagate drives.

I installed Vista Home Premium final on that same computer with it's Raid
volume, worked fine.

The next day I decided to update the MB Bios from 0706 to 1101,
Unfortunately I used Asus's Windows based Bios update utility. It blew away
all of the Bios settings, had to reinvent the wheel on the settings and felt
that the Bios update failed,

Really though - I guessed wrong on some of the settings and had multiple
reboots with the RAID configuration settings wrong in the BIOS, probably got
multiple blue screens with 0x0000007b (don't know too fast to see). Finally
realized my Raid settings in the BIOS were wrong, fixed them. Was able to
Control-I and see that my Raid 1 is set up and both drives are in 'Normal'
status and the volume is bootable.

But Vista still does not boot up, so am trying to reinstall, but get the
following first message:
This computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that
the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu.

After clicking NEXT Second Message: Windows is unable to find a system
volume that meets it's criteria for installation.

I created a floppy of the RAID driver Intel (R) 82801HR/HH/HO SATA Raid
Controller (A:\iastor.inf) tell Vista install where it is, it appears to load
it, but then get the same two messages as above. Supposedly you don't need an
F6 or separate driver for RAID in Vista (comes on the DVD). Neither work.

How do I get Vista to recognize the 'normal' bootable Raid Volume without
having to reformat my drive? Have same question into Asus, and Intel, and if
I could figure out who to ask at Microsoft would also be sending the question
there.
Thanks
