| | Used Easy Transfer Companion -- didn't work I used WETC while installing Vista on an XP box. I had backed up most things but missed a few, namely some files that were saved to a user's desktop. WETC managed to copy several apps, but no old data appears. After reading several threads, I'm beginning to believe that using only Companion was a mistake -- but it said it was a COMPANION to WET, to help make things easier somehow. There are a lot of empty file folders where there should be user data. Anyway, is there a chance to get any data back? The Vista install didn't seem to reformat the HDD -- is it possible to use a file recovery program on the disk? There must have been a big image file saved to the external drive -- what's it called and where is it? Is there any way to get anything out of that? |

All that was on the drive will be in that folder. I think you need to run WET first to get the data and settings then do WETC for the programs. WETC doesn't do both. -- Rock [MS-MVP User/Shell] |
